I am grateful to be able to practice my craft as an illustrator as well as a fine artist. I try to tell a visual story in each of my paintings. The 'narrative' I tell most often revolves around the theme of a cyclical world, the changing seasons, and capturing a pivotal moment in time. My inspiration comes from observing nature and visually rearranging it to make it my own. My imagery generates mostly from my fascination with color, form, and movement within the landscape.
After graduating from Herron School of Art, I became an advertising and editorial illustrator. I spent more than 20 years working for local and national agencies before my interest in painting influenced me to rethink my artistic direction.
I now divide my time equally between illustration and fine art. I enjoy the challenge of retelling an author's story visually through illustration, but relish having total creative control of my fine art. I have completed eight children's books having sold nearly 100,000 copies collectively.
I have been in more than 40 juried art competitions and exhibitions and have won numerous awards, both locally and nationally. My paintings are part of permanent collections and in many businesses throughout the region and internationally. My work is represented by Art Design Consultants in Cincinnati, OH, The Wit Gallery in Lenox, MA , The Chemers Gallery in Tustin CA and Editions Ltd. In Emeryville, CA.
My studio is located on the fourth floor of the historic Stutz building of early 20th century automobile fame, in downtown Indianapolis.
